Volunteering for Huaxia Chinese School
Volunteers are always welcome at the School!
What you need to do:
- Send your CV to Ms Xue Teng (xue.teng@manchester.ac.uk)
- Download the School's [Child Protection Policy] , make sure that you read and understand it.
- Download the [Personal Commitment Form], sign it and bring it with you to hand to the School desk when you first come to the School.
- Check the available works below, decide what you can do and let Ms Teng know.
Available works:
- School Magazine work
- Works include graphic design; Chinese typewriting, editing and typesetting photo taking; image scanning and editing; and so on.
- You can do most of the works at home, but will need to attend the editors meeting every 2-3 weeks at School, between 11am and 1pm on Sundays
- Class assistant
- You will provide assistant to class teachers during school hours, 11 am to 1 pm on Sundays during term time.
- Two volunteers can form a teach to help one class, if it's difficult for you to come to the School every Sunday.
- Help for extra curriculum activities :
- You can help on forming a children's singing group, or help on other performing activities. The working hours will be between 10am to 11am on Sundays at the school.
- Help for school admin work:
- You'll help on dealing with various requests from pupils and parents, during school hours between 11am and 1pm on Sundays during term time.
- Help for other school activities:
- Design programme list for the school show, provide help on organising works for school events, etc.
- Help for school web:
- School website maintenance and updating. Web skills essential for this job.

- Mailing list for Huaxia volunteers: You'll be added into this mailing list which we use to send notices to volunteers. You can also se it to share information with other volunteers. The technical instruction is in the automated message sent to you once you are added into the list.
- MLP students are welcome. Formal letter will be provided to you for the hours you worked.
